What Is the MyRisk® Test?
MyRisk® is a hereditary cancer test that shows whether you could be at increased risk of developing certain types of cancer. It is 99.9% accurate and evaluates 63 different genes across 11 common hereditary cancer types, including:

- Colorectal
- Uterine
- Skin
- Pancreatic
- Stomach
- Prostate
- Kidney
- Lung
- Endocrine
How Does This Test Work?
Your risk of developing certain types of cancer can be increased due to genetic mutations that are passed down from generation to generation.
This test shows whether or not you carry these genes so that you and your provider can determine how to best reduce your risk and/or improve your chances of detecting cancer at an earlier stage, when it may be more treatable.
It’s a simple test that requires only a saliva or blood sample. That sample is sent in for testing, and you should receive your results in about two weeks. Then, your provider will review those results with you.

No, genetic cancer testing like this does not show if you currently have cancer. Instead, your results will tell you whether or not you have a genetic predisposition for developing cancer in the future. From there, your provider may recommend imaging or other screenings.
How Can MCHC Patients Get Tested?
At MCHC, we make taking this test easy for you! You’ll simply fill out a family history questionnaire at your annual wellness exam. Then, if you have any YES answers that indicate a potential cancer risk for certain cancers, your provider will help you complete the test kit and it will be sent in for evaluation.
When your results arrive, your provider will go over them with you and determine any next steps, such as additional screenings, risk reduction strategies, or monitoring.
While you can take genetic tests like MyRisk® on your own, testing through your healthcare provider gives you more thorough care. Your provider will be able to examine your results within the context of your individual health history to help you determine the best way forward.

This test costs $249.00 (cash payment), but with a clinical note and a letter from your provider, it’s possible your insurance plan may cover it.
Is the MyRisk® Test Right for You?
